Privacy policy

Private by default.

PaperVote does not require a name, email address or social account to respond to a paper.

Account data

Your 20-digit recovery number is converted into a one-way identifier. The readable number is not stored on the server. PaperVote stores the last four digits, an account creation time, sessions, recommendations, reactions and any profile text you choose to add.

Remembered accounts

If you choose to remember an account, the full recovery number is stored in that browser. Anyone with access to the browser may be able to use it. Remove it with × on the sign-in page when using a shared device.

Infrastructure and search

PaperVote runs on Cloudflare Workers and D1. Searches may request metadata from PubMed, Europe PMC, Crossref and DataCite. Those providers may receive ordinary technical request data and apply their own policies.

Delete your data

While signed in, open your Dashboard and use “Delete my account.” This permanently removes the account, its sessions, recommendations and reactions. If you have lost the recovery number, PaperVote cannot verify ownership of the anonymous account.
